Bro Dyfi Community Renewables

Bro Dyfi Community Renewables is a community energy co-operative registered under the Industrial and Provident Societies Acts. We were established in 2001 to develop community-owned renewable energy projects.

Our first community owned wind turbine has been running since 2003, using money raised from a share offer. After an epic struggle, our second wind turbine (a Nordtank 500kW machine) started generating in December 2010 (rather later than originally planned!). The photo diary of construction progress is here.

If you are interested in buying or selling shares, please contact us here. We cannot sell you the shares ourselves, but we can put you in touch with current members wishing to sell theirs, or people wishing to buy yours.

Latest news (October 2011)
From January 2011 to the end of October, the Nordtank generated around 580 MWh, giving a capacity factor of 16%.  This compares well with the original assumption of an average of 20%, as in January and February we were not able to generate at full capacity due to problems with the grid connection.

For those of you that aren't local, here is the video to prove that it really does spin!

The AGM for 2010 was held on May 14th 2011.The 2010 accounts are here, the chairs report is here and slides from the technical presentation are here.  Minutes are here
